Kingston Flyer locked out of Bollywood film

A Bollywood movie being filmed in Queenstown is in jeopardy because of legal wrangling over an historic steam train.

The debt-ridden Kingston Flyer was to be used as a backdrop for a scene in the movie I Hate Luv Stories, which has a $500,000 budget.

The company that owns the Kingston Flyer was placed in receivership in November, but the film's Christchurch-based line producer Uma Singh says she found out only last week the train had been locked up.

She says the train does not need to be moving, nor the engine going, but the film's makers did want it in the background.

Ms Singh says the train needs to be moved only a short distance in front of the station.

She says she hopes to resolve the problem before the scene is scheduled to be shot.
