Police have confirmed that a man found dead in a garage in New Plymouth was involved with drugs.

Two men were charged in the New Plymouth District Court on Monday with the murder of Dean Stuart Browne, 38.

Police believe he was killed elsewhere and left in the garage, where he was found at about 8pm on Friday.

Traces of blood have been found around the boot of a car in Auckland.

Detective Senior Sergeant Grant Coward has confirmed he was wanted for assault, breach of a protection order, and was involved in making the drug "P", also known as methamphetamine.

He says detectives in Auckland are working with family and associates to discover more about Mr Browne.
