No charges for officers accused of leaking information

Two officers from Counties Manukau accused of leaking information from the police national database will not face criminal charges.

The constables, who were from the same station, were stood down in August last year amid allegations they had supplied information to known criminals.

A senior officer was brought in to investigate whether the constables had been working together.

Police now say neither constable will be charged and the matter will be dealt with internally.

A spokesperson says there is no time-frame for deciding whether they will keep their jobs and both remain stood down on full pay.
