Garage murder inquiry widens

5:43 pm on 28 January 2010

Police investigating the killing of a man found in a New Plymouth garage have shifted their focus to Wellington and Auckland.

Mikhail Pandey-Johnson, 23, and Karl Nuku, 18, have been charged with murdering Aucklander Dean Stuart Browne, whose body was found last Friday.

Rhys Fournier, 22, is charged with helping them evade arrest and possession of a firearm.

Detective Senior Sergeant Grant Howard says a house in Wellington's Oriental Bay is being treated as a crime scene and a forensic investigation is being carried out.

Two officers from New Plymouth are in the capital assisting with the scene examination.

Mr Howard says he cannot elaborate on the nature of the investigation, or what has been found at the scene, as the case is before the courts.

Police are also examining a house in the Auckland suburb of Henderson where Mr Browne may have stayed, along with the accused.
