Fishing chain to shut NZ operation

4:41 pm on 19 February 2015

Retail chain Fishing, Camping and Outdoors is to shut its 13 New Zealand stores after just three years in the market.

It was not clear how many jobs would be lost as a result of the closure.

In its latest strategic review, the Australian-owned company which runs the chain, Super Retail Group, said the shops would close by June because they were unlikely to reach financial targets.

Managing director Peter Birtles said the closure was disappointing and the result of a flawed business approach.

The Super Retail Group also owns the Super Cheap Auto chain.
