Groups representing senior hospital doctors and independent GPs are to join forces.
The Association of Salaried Medical Specialists and the Independent Practitioner Associations Council say they have agreed to work together towards better coordination in health.
The two groups cover much of the health system. They say it performs well, but there are gaps and inequities that call for shared access and shared initiatives between general practice and public hospitals.
