A finance company executive missing for four days has been found safe and well near Auckland.
The police say Grant Atkinson, chief risk officer at Marac Finance, was found at Huapai Domain northwest of Auckland at 8.45am on Saturday. He was slightly disoriented and dishevelled but otherwise physically well.
Sister-in-law Debbie Rollings says the family is overjoyed, an emotion shared by Mr Atkinson's work colleagues, says Marac chief investment officer Craig Stephen.
The past few days have been a rollercoaster of emotions, says Mr Stephen, adding that he knows of nothing at work that would have led to the disappearance.
Cellphone and bank account unused
Mr Atkinson, 48, left his home in Campbell's Bay on Tuesday morning but did not arrive at work; his cellphone and bank account have remained unused since that time.
When his car was discovered at about 12.30pm on Friday, Search and Rescue and a police dog unit scoured the area around till they found the missing man.
Inspector Les Paterson says it's believed Mr Atkinson slept rough in the Huapai area, though not in the domain itself, for the past four nights.
He says there's no reason at this point to believe that anyone else was involved in the disappearance.
