An Australian man was arrested after joking with Hamilton airport staff, telling them there was a bomb in his bag.
Police say the passenger, 44, left his bags unattended in the terminal after getting off a trans-Tasman flight on Tuesday morning.
When he returned, Aviation Security staff cautioned him about leaving the bags unattended.
He told them there was a bomb in one of the bags and asked why they could not hear it ticking.
Police say nothing suspicious was found in the man's bags. He faces charges under the Aviation Act.
