The navy ship, HMNZS Canterbury, has returned home after a four-week round trip to help with the relief effort in Vanuatu.
The ship, carrying 150 navy, airforce and defence force personnel, berthed at Devonport at 9:00am today.
It took 150 tonnes of food, water and emergency supplies, and distributed it to seven of Vanuatu's islands.
The commanding officer, Simon Rooke, said they did everything they could with what they had and their limited time frame.
He said although Vanuatu had a long road to recovery ahead, they managed to supply food, water, and restore shelter to all the towns and villages on the seven outlying islands.
