Denise Potter, who went missing from Carroll St in Dunedin, has been the subject of searches by police and a large group of volunteers.

Police today confirmed they had suspended all searches for the missing Mrs Potter.

"As far as I know it's now in the hands of the coroner as a 'missing person, unexplained'," her husband Steve Potter said.

He confirmed she had been struggling with anxiety and depression after a successful battle with cancer.

"She was being treated in Dunedin for depression, and we thought she'd come out of that, so it was quite a surprise to us that she'd taken off."

Although Mr Potter did not want to completely give up hope, he said the family had talked about the next step.

"We had thought of maybe having a remembrance service or something like that in another month or so just to remember Denise and help people move on."

Police said they were still keen to hear from anyone who may have information regarding Mrs Potter's whereabouts.
