Police say they have spoken to a family member in India of an international student who was killed in Auckland on Friday.
Parmita Rani, 22, was attacked and died of her injuries at the AWI International Education Group's school on Queen Street.
She was originally from the Indian state of Punjab, and came to New Zealand to study in 2013.
The police said they spoke with a member of her family last night after her body was formally identified and the postmortem completed.
A 22-year-old man, who was also injured in the attack, is in a stable condition at Auckland City Hospital.
A 29-year-old man from Manurewa has been charged with murder and will appear at the Auckland District Court on Monday.
