The biennial Michael Hill International Violin Competition has been won by Suyeon Kang, from Australia.

The 26-year-old performed Sibelius' Concerto in D minor with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra in the finals of the major biennial competition, at the Auckland Town Hall last night.
She has won $40,000 and a recording contract.
In second place was Eunae Koh, from South Korea.
