Cissy Chen trial jury deliberates

8:01 pm on 15 June 2015

A jury is considering its verdict in the murder trial of Cissy Chen at the High Court in Auckland.

Yun Qing Liu, 58, denies killing his long-time partner, whose body was found in a reserve 16 months after she disappeared in November 2012.

In her summing up, Justice Sarah Katz told the jury they must be sure beyond reasonable doubt that Mr Liu killed Ms Chen.

She said they must also consider the pair's relationship.

The Crown case is that Ms Chen was murdered by Mr Liu as she was about to cut him out of her will.

But the Defence argues that the Crown relies entirely on circumstantial evidence.

The jury of six women and six men spent five-and-a-half hours deliberating today and will return tomorrow to continue deliberations.
