A prisoner who escaped a day after being recaptured is back in custody again.
Jayden Conroy, 21, escaped from Rangipo Prison the weekend before last and was caught in Napier three days later.
He again escaped from custody on Thursday while being transferred to a prison van at Napier central police station.
Police say Conroy was recaptured on Monday morning in the suburb of Tamatea after a tip-off.
He has appeared in court on two charges of escaping and charges of burglary.
