Doctor pleads not guilty to child-sex charges

6:28 pm on 23 July 2008

A doctor has pleaded not guilty in Auckland District Court to five charges of rape and indecent assault on three girls between 1979 and 1985.

The 58-year-old Panmure doctor, who has name suppression, was committed to trial at the High Court.

At the time, the girls were aged between five and eight.

Police say the girls lived on the Coromandel Peninsular or were visiting the area on holiday at the time of the offending.

The victims say they played at the doctor's house before they were sexually assaulted in front of other children.

They say they were told at the time they were playing as adults do.
