The 28-year-old lost suppression when he was found guilty of the rape and murder of Mrs Gotingco by a High Court jury in Auckland in May.

He immediately appealed and took his case regarding name suppression to the Court of Appeal.

That court has now issued a judgment suppressing his name and previous convictions to allow him to file a further appeal with the highest court in the land.

The interim order expires in August if he fails to file.

That is the same month the man is due to be sentenced.
