A Christchurch man has been arrested after allegedly breaking into a Linwood home and sexually assaulting a teenager.
Canterbury Police have confirmed they are investigating an allegation of sexual assault in the Christchurch suburb overnight on Tuesday.
A 33-year-old man was arrested late last night and will appear in Christchurch District Court this morning charged with burglary and rape.
Detective Sergeant Geoff Rudduck said Canterbury Police and Victim Support were working with the teenage victim and her immediate family.
"A scene examination of a residential property in Linwood was completed on Wednesday afternoon. A number of people have been interviewed as part of the ongoing investigation into this incident."
