Schools update sports poaching rules

2:50 pm on 6 August 2008

College Sport in Auckland has updated a number of bylaws to try to stop schools poaching players.

So far this year, three incidents of player poaching in basketball and rugby have been proven.

The secondary school rules organisation has now altered 80 bylaws relating to enticements for teenage athletes playing at premier levels.

The onus is now on schools to prove they have not accepted poached students.
