Former All Black Mils Muliaina will go on trial next year over sexual assault allegations.
The 35-year-old fullback appeared in a Cardiff court overnight for a brief hearing, reported Wales Online.
He has been charged with one count of sexual assault, which the prosecution said took place in Cardiff on 7 March.
Muliaina was in the city when the team he was then playing for, Connacht, took on the Cardiff Blues.
A month later he was led away by the police from a stadium in Gloucester in Western England following a European Challenge Cup match.
Muliaina has not yet entered a formal plea, although the court heard he will contest the matter when a plea and case management hearing takes place next month.
His trial is expected to begin on 23 February.
Muliaina, who now plays in Italy, was released on bail.
