Gary Timothy Fenwick appeared in the New Plymouth District Court this morning for sentencing on two charges of making an intimate visual recording.

The 45-year-old had earlier pleaded guilty to the charges, over the placing of covert cameras in toilets at a cinema complex and theatre earlier this year.

Judge Chris Sygrove said there was an old saying that the devil makes work for idle hands, and Fenwick had too much time on his hands - which took his mind to strange places.

He sentenced Fenwick to four months community detention, 100 hours community work and six months supervision.
