An Auckland man who allegedly attacked a security guard after cutting off his electronic monitoring bracelet has been recaptured.
Northland police confirmed today they had arrested Thomas Shortcliffe, 44, who had been on the run since late last month.
Shortcliffe had been confined to a Pakakura address on bail for a number of charges, including kidnapping, assault, burglary and breaching a protection order. He cut off his bracelet and vanished on 29 August.
Police found him this morning in Whangarei.
Shortcliffe will appear in the Whangarei District Court today on charges including the alleged assault on a security guard when he fled.
