Access to phone and internet services has been restored to almost 2000 Te Anau residents who were cut off on Saturday night.
Snow severed the power supply to a microwave radio site for the area at White Hill and bad weather meant back-up generators could not be manned all night.
Chorus, the company responsible for the area's network, sent a helicopter to the damaged site on Sunday morning.
The company says back-up generators are up and running so Te Anau residents can now dial out of the area.
The cause of the power outage is yet to be determined.
