The Supreme Court has rejected a convicted rapist's appeal to have his case reconsidered.
Michael Shane Lihou was convicted of the assault, rape and sexual violation of a 17-year-old in 2012 and sentenced to preventive detention.
He had previously been convicted of rape and kidnapping in 1988 and 1996. He denies the 2012 charge.
Lihou took his victim across country on foot after raping her, and had acted similarly during one of the other rapes.
His lawyer, Andru Isac, wanted to challenge the way this propensity evidence was presented in court.
But in their ruling, Chief Justice Dame Sian Elias and Justices Sir William Young and Mark O'Regan said they were satisfied there were no grounds for appeal.
