The Family Court has allowed Chris Kahui to live with his one year old daughter.
Two year ago, Mr Kahui was found not guilty of murdering his three month old twin sons Chris and Cru, in June of 2006.
No-one has ever been convicted of their killing.
Until recently, Mr Kahui has had supervised access to his daughter for 12 hours a day at her mother's home.
The new arrangement means he has now moved into the home, based on a number of safety conditions, including that he must not be alone with the child.
Child Youth and Family (CYF) says if any of the conditions are not met, staff will remove Mr Kahui from the home.
The Family Court will review the matter in six months.
Mr Kahui's lawyer says the court's decision is the result of her client building a trusting relationship with CYF.
Lorraine Smith says Mr Kahui has been thoroughly co-operative with CYF.
She says he is a loving, caring father and is delighted with the court's decision.
Lorraine Williams is interviewed on Checkpoint
