Almost 300 new charges have been laid against a woman in relation to visa fraud.

In the Hamilton District Court this morning, magistrate Kathy Wilson said 284 new charges had been laid by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Development.

The charges include multiple counts of forgery, using forged documents, supplying false information and obtaining by deception.

The woman, 35, who has dual Phillipines and New Zealand nationality, was charged in October with altering a Work and Income letter with the intent to deceive Immigration New Zealand in Manila, and using an altered Work and Income letter by giving it to another person.

She was arrested in October in relation to a suspected fraud involving multiple work visa applications, submitted by Filipinos to work in the New Zealand dairy industry.
