Police in South Auckland have charged a man after a four month old baby suffered severe brain injuries.
An ambulance was called to a house in Papakura in early August and a specialist child abuse team began an inquiry.
A man, 19, is now charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He is due to appear in court in Papakura on Tuesday.
