A screen has been erected between a farm worker, who the police say killed his son, and his wife, who is giving evidence at his trial.

The Crown claims David Roigard killed his son Aaron on 2 June 2014 because he could no longer conceal the fact he had stolen about $60,000 from the younger man.

Aaron Roigard has not been seen since leaving his home and his body has not been found. Mr Roigard's defence team denies a killing took place.

David Roigard's wife Pamela is giving evidence today, with the screen erected between them.

Justice Heath told the jury in the High Court in New Plymouth today that the screen would prevent them being distracted by any gestures or interaction between the two.
