11:48 am on 30 November 2015

A pregnant woman suffered a broken leg when a car was driven into a crowd of people in Hamilton following a fracas.

The car stopped in the Nawton area just before 10pm last night so one of the passengers could be sick by the side of the road, police said.

Detective Sergeant Will Loughrin said a group of people living nearby took offence and attacked the person being sick, who lost a number of teeth in the assault.

One of the other passengers then drove the car into the crowd, injuring six people, including the pregnant woman and another woman who suffered a broken foot, he said.

Two teenagers have been arrested and charged with driving with excess breath alcohol, police said.

They said further charges were likely to follow.
