Auckand police seek Asians' views on crime

6:28 pm on 6 September 2008

The police surveyed the Asian community in West Auckland on Saturday about concerns they have about crime in the area.

It follows a spate of violent offending against people of Asian descent in the Auckland region in the past few months.

A team of 10 officers were involved in the initiative, which saw them door-knock more than 200 homes in Ambrico Place in New Lynn.

Sergeant Grant Watson says residents seemed most concerned about car theft, burglary and personal safety.

Mr Watson says the survey responses will now be collated and a course of action decided upon.
