Resignation over conflict of interest

11:54 am on 10 September 2008

The head of Age Concern Canterbury has resigned due to a conflict of interest with his position on the Canterbury District Health Board.

Chief executive Andrew Dickerson was excluded from a board meeting last month because it was discussing a report on aged care.

Mr Dickerson disputed he had a conflict of interest and sought legal advice.

However, he has now decided to leave the position at Age Concern because the issue has not been resolved.

He says he is disappointed the situation has forced him to resign.
