Mathew Kidman, 35, was arrested last night after an off-duty policeman spotted him in Wellington and alerted his colleagues. Kidman appeared in Wellington District Court this morning.

Fresh charges were laid today, including receiving a stolen car, driving while disqualified and the theft of petrol.

Mr Kidman had bruising around his left eye and a cut on his left cheek.

Judge Bruce Davidson remanded him in custody without plea to reappear in Court next month.

No charges have yet been laid in relation to the allegation that he removed his electronic monitoring bracelet.

A woman associate of Mathew Kidman also appeared in Court on Thursday.

Cassandra Smith, 21, faced vehicle-related charges, including dangerous driving and failing to stop for red and blue flashing lights.

She was also remanded in custody until next month, but Judge Davidson said she could come back to Court earlier if she wished to seek bail.
