A 26-year-old man has been seriously injured in a drive-by shooting in Kaitaia, in the Far North.
The police said several shots were fired from a car outside an address in the town at about 4.30am.
Inspector Kevin Burke said a 26-year old man, who was standing outside, was shot and seriously injured.
He was taken to Whangarei Hospital, where he was in a stable condition.
The police said they believed the shooting might be gang related, and they were appealing for witnesses to come forward.
