Jindarat Prutsiriporn, who was 50, died in Middlemore Hospital after falling from the boot of a moving car in Papatoetoe in March.

Five men, charged with both kidnapping and causing her death by threats or fear of violence, appeared in the Manukau District Court.

Three men and a 29-year-old woman also appeared on kidnapping charges.

Four of them have been remanded in custody and two on bail, to reappear in the High Court next month.

Three others will reappear this afternoon.

The public gallery was packed with family, some crying and calling out "I love you" to the accused as they were taken away.

The 50-year-old victim had links to Auckland's crime scene.
