Head Hunters members jailed for cooking meth

Two gang members involved in one of the country's biggest meth operations have been jailed for 19 and 15 years.

Elijah Rogers and Anthony Mangu were arrested during a police crackdown on members and associates of the Head Hunters gang.

The High Court in Whangarei heard more than seven kilograms of meth was cooked at a rural house about 30 kilometres south of the city.

Fourteen people were arrested in 2014, including Rogers and Mangu, who were two of the cooks.

In November that year, a car taking some of the meth to Auckland was stopped and the drug that was seized was found to be 73 percent pure.

In sentencing the two men, Justice Moore said they were part of a sophisticated and well-organised group.

Rogers was jailed for 19 years and Mangu for 15.
