Fifty of the Norwegian-made vehicles, known as Paxters, have arrived so far, for deliveries on Auckland's North Shore.

Once all 500 of the vehicles are operating in New Zealand, it is believed they will be the country's largest fleet of fully-electric vehicles in New Zealand.

They will help cut New Zealand Post's both fuel and greenhouse gas emissions.

The vehicles can carry loads of 200kg for up to 90km at road speeds of up to 45km/h.
