Three teens charged with attacking schoolgirls

Police have arrested three teenagers after recent attacks on schoolchildren in central Auckland.

They said they had arrested and charged three people aged 13, 14 and 16 with aggravated robbery in relation to an attack on four schoolgirls.

Remuera Intermediate acting principal Tom Beckett said, over the past month, there had been two cases of pupils being stopped and robbed by car window-washers.

Last night, a public meeting held at neighbouring Cornwall Park School was attended by around 60 parents, police and the local MP, David Seymour.

Mr Beckett said the problem had got worse, and parents were feeling uncomfortable allowing their children to walk to school alone.

"Now quite a few of them are feeling intimidated and quite scared to come to school," he said
