An Air New Zealand flight had to return to the terminal minutes before take-off amid reports of smoke coming from an engine.
Air New Zealand said flight NZ103 from Auckland to Sydney this morning was taxiing towards the runway when an engineering fault was detected.
Wellington journalist Andrea Vance was on the flight and tweeted that there was a strange acrid smell in the cabin and the right hand engine was smoking.
Air New Zealand said the plane is now being examined and passengers put onto other flights.
