A parade celebrating the Hurricanes winning the Super Rugby title has been postponed because of cold, wet weather.

The aptly-named Wellington-based team ended a 20-year Super Rugby trophy drought when they defeated South Africa's Lions in driving rain on Saturday.

The victory parade was expected to go ahead in Wellington tomorrow, but the team's management and Wellington City Council decided to move it to Wednesday, when warmer, sunnier weather was expected.

The parade will begin at Parliament at midday on Wednesday and finish at the Civic Square about 1pm.
