Police have captured a man who escaped from a prison van near Wellington.
Zharn Craig Burns, who is 24, escaped shortly before 5pm on Friday as he was being transported back to Rimutaka Prison.
The police located him at an address in Plimmerton, on the Kapiti Coast, and have charged him with escaping custody. He is expected to appear in the Porirua District Court on Monday.
Mr Burns had been at court facing a number of dishonesty charges.
The van's door was forced open and police believe he escaped at the Paremata roundabout.
