The players were training at Newtown Park on Tuesday, and noticed their items missing about 11.30am.

Phoenix defender Tom Doyle had his wallet stolen.

"I thought my personal items would be safe in our changing rooms, but obviously not," he said, in a statement released by police.

"I would really like my property back and next time I will be keeping an eye on my gear."

The police said, by chance, a videographer was filming the practice and caught a man on film.

They were keen to talk to the man, described as about 180cm tall, of skinny build, with dark hair and grey clothing.
