One man is dead and two other people have minor injuries after their four-wheel-drive rolled on an off-road track near Makarora in the Queenstown Lakes District this afternoon.
Police said the man died after being thrown from the vehicle as it rolled at about 3.45pm.
The two injured have been taken to a local medical centre.
A fourth person in the vehicle is uninjured.
Police said the serious crash unit was investigating and the next of kin were to be notified.
