Jo Kelly-Moore's new responsibilities as Archdeacon of Canterbury include Canterbury Cathedral, the spiritual home of the church.

Dean Kelly-Moore has been in her current role since 2010 and has led the project to complete Auckland's Holy Trinity Cathedral.

She said the appointment is an honour for the Church's work in New Zealand.

"It's a very exciting privilege to be going to be Archdeacon of Canterbury. For eighty-five million Anglicans the world over Canterbury is our spiritual home so to be going to head office, as it were, is a great privilege."

Dean Kelly-Moore and her family would move to the UK in December, leaving just after the Christmas Day.
