Police have found a large cache of weapons and ammunition - and a cannabis growing room - at a rural Blenheim property.

Thousands of rounds of ammunition and several firearms were found, including a loaded .22 pistol, a loaded cut-down shotgun and a semi-automatic AK47 type gun with loaded magazines.

Body armour and camouflage gear was also found.
Police said the first indication something was amiss was during a routine rental property check.
A 50-year-old man is due to appear in the Blenheim District Court on Monday.
