Auckland City Council is taking a tougher line with requests for parking ticket exemptions because of a drop in revenue from fines.
The council says fewer motorists are bringing their cars into the city and fines are down as a result.
More disputes are also ending up in court, which are going unpaid, again cutting into revenue.
The agenda for a meeting of the finance and strategy committee on Wednesday outlined a plan to recoup $1.1 million.
Group manager for parking Brian Tomlinson says repeat offenders and those who persist in parking illegally in diasbled car parks, will be targetted in particular.
