Police in Blenheim are seeking a man who disturbed an elderly woman in her home and then got away by diving into a river.
The woman, 75, was shocked but unhurt after the man broke into her home early on Friday, stealing cash and a camera.
A police dog unit tracked the man through properties and cornered him after he swam across the Opawa river.
The man then stripped to his underwear and shirt and dived back into the river.
