The New Zealand movie industry recorded gross revenues of $2.8 billion last year, a 3% increase from the previous year.
Growth in the industry was driven by a 51% increase in post-production revenue, which reached $483 million. Digital graphics, animation or effects accounted for 75% of total post-production revenue in 2009, or $362 million.
The number of businesses grew by 20% to 2673.
