Two Hastings men charged in relation to a home invasion in the suburb of Flaxmere in June, have been committed for trial following a depositions hearing in the Hastings District Court.
Detective Constable Lisa Tod says four males burst into a house and attacked a 21-year-old man who lived there with his partner and newborn baby.
The attack prompted a Hastings councillor, Henare O'Keefe, whose daughter lived in the house, to organise an anti-violence hikoi from Flaxmere to the centre of Hastings, in which more than 2000 people took part.
Another man arrested in relation to the attack has pleaded guilty and been sent to jail for 25 months.
And a 15 year old boy was sentenced last month to three months residential supervision.
