Police teams, the Coastguard, a helicopter and a commercial vessel were all searching around the mouth of Bluff harbour yesterday afternoon after a member of the public contacted them with concerns about the pair.

The search failed to find anything and the police said no one had yet been reported missing.

Police investigated reports that the drivers of a pair of white four-wheel-drive vehicles seen at Bluff Harbour on Saturday morning were seen entering the water while a third man waited on land.

The vehicles were seen between 10.30am and 11am in the Marine Parade area.

Police urgently want to speak to anyone connected with the group.
