A taxpayer funded training agency has admitted spending $105,000 on a 1.5 day conference for 75 people.

Careerforce, an Industry Training Organisation, provides training for employees in home and aged care, disability and mental health.

Home Health Association chair Trish Neal told Nine to Noon she believes the conference, which ended on Thursday in Auckland, could have been done in one day.

In a statement, Careerforce said it was able to halve accommodation costs by holding the event over 1.5 days.

Careerforce says it also held another conference costing $150,000, late last year.
