A man accused of ramming a police car, causing an eight-car crash that killed a man, has been charged with manslaughter.
Michael Plimmer, 71, died instantly when a jeep driven by Cornelis Klein landed on his vehicle on the North Shore in February.
Police say Mr Klein deliberately drove into the police car while officers were trying to find him after he threatened to commit suicide.
He had been previously charged with dangerous driving, but when he appeared in North Shore District Court on Friday, the manslaughter charge was added.
Mr Klein told the court he was extremely remorseful for his actions.
He was remanded in custody until a bail hearing next week.
